live jump plus replays of different camera angles. brass balls included.Eddie Haynes supplied the folowling info. thanks eddie .A lot of you are complaining that he took a bit of a tumble at the end. The number one reason was on that side of the canyon was still part of a American Indian Tribe and it took a lot of dealing with the Chief of the tribe to not disturb the natural land.To keep it as natural as possible was the only way they give Robbie Knievel to make the jump there. It was planned for him to ditch the motorcycle after he cleared the landing. He kinda messed up when he cleared the ramp and hitting the small bump but he still was able to nail the jump and land. A complete success of dumping the bike and making a clean jump.I know that a lot of you are complaining about the tumble but it was planned.I think it took him a little over two years before the Indian Chief said yes but the land had to remain almost as it was before the jump

I grew up watching every Evel event. This choked me up when I saw it. How many of us can say they did something like this and lived to relate the story?

No one should try this without the motorcycle being prepared exactly perfect. That is the key. The engine is built by someone really, really good. The piston has properly been lapped to the valve guides so that the rings do not stick to the cam chain. The clearance is very important in this step. If you get the gap in that lap too big slippage will occur between the pump and the ring gear which would throw everything off once you leave the ramp. If that gap is wrong there is no use worrying about the chassis. The chassis was prepared way in advance anyway so that the bike could perform a jump to remember. Every single component was bent and reshaped until the right cantelever was achieved in each part, especially where the shocks attach. And the fork is an entirely different matter where a specialist is required to dial the spokes into "true" tune between the hub and ratio of each gear. Don't worry about the brakes as long as they are not grabbing sloppy. As long as the brake cable extends all the way in it will stop. The drive train is crucial. Without the correct manufacturers recommended grease paste pressed into the embedded cross frame, that machine is not sailing anywhere in a head wind. If there is too much head win it is best to take off in first gear only, use the clutch to shift quickly though the gears after the take off once the hump is cleared. Do not look down while flying. Concentrate on the duty to control the throttle during the flight. Too much torque can veer you sideways and too crooked to land. If your take off is short you might not make it. The landing might cause pain. To avoid too much pain you must tumble on top of the air for as long as possible resisting the urge to catch yourself on top of the motorcycle. Remember that motorcycles are very cheap compared to the ambulance and hospital. Most surgeons hate motorcycle jumpers anyway so do not make mistakes that require their practice. Let those MD professionals practice on somebody else. This is the reason foremost to follow these preparation steps to the letter. If for any reason that you do not think the bike is balanced at the Apex of the perimeter of both axles than DO NOT MAKE THE JUMP! It may not end pretty. Beware and be careful and safe at all cost. In fact it is best just to forget it and watch someone else.

Calls interviewer an idiot, kisses another man on the lips, okay, god people are weird. The Native American chief says the land had to remain as it was. "You can jump, but it has to be super dangerous so you get hurt." God people are weird.

Some Mexican must have run in there and dug a little trench in landing. Then when the cameras were focusing on his flailing corpse. The Mexicans ran out and collected all the bike parts.

I hate fucking announcers that have no fucking clue what they're talking about. He over jumped it, bottomed out the suspension on the landing, and that threw him forward. He lost control because of his body position not allowing him to clamp onto the bike and brake. Plus his front wheel washed out in the sand.

He landed FN Fast took everything he had keep it stable but he wasn't ready for that one Whoop that launched him than into the hey bails Maybe that's how he likes to land. One Hell of a Jump Robbie is so Underrated I would dare say he's better than the Ole man who's a Legend

What sort of landing strip is that?! Good job he fell off his bike or else he would have crashed through a tower of scaffolding, a caravan or two, are then drove of the other side.

If the Fox network paid for advertising, set-up, etc., or even wrote Robbie a check for this televised stunt, why would an admittedly dazed Robbie choose to call the interviewer or anyone not in the Knievel "family" an idiot? Sure, the man has a set of brass balls as big as his dad's, but his redneck brain is as small as a peanut. It's not as if Fox needed a two hour post stunt sit-down interview with the man. Just a few words would have been sufficient, for god's sake. Robbie needs to be spanked a few hundred times behind the barn by Spanky Spangler to teach him a lesson. Spank you very much…… – Dave R.

I remember watching it on TV as a kid. Afterwards he did talk to the cameras he said white men can jump you… and then they cut away from him.

Would have likely made if 1. he had jumped just a bit shorter in order to stabilize before the dirt landing strip (but then run the risk of slamming into the canyon wall if too short). ; or 2. had been allowed to put down a flat wooden landing strip as wide as the ram over the dirt. Based on the jump, he need the flat landing strip. Was an amazing jump. Robbie got super high air for the jump.
